Martial arts instructor for kids charged with sex abuse

ALBANY, OR (KPTV) -

A man who ran an Albany businesses specializing in teaching martial arts to children is now facing child sex abuse charges.

James Butler, 57, of Sweet Home, was arrested Friday at his home.

Police said the investigation began in December 2012 when the alleged victim, now an adult, reported the abuse.

Butler owned and operated a martial arts business called "Academy of Fighting Arts" at 115 S.E. 2nd Ave., Albany between the mid to late 1980s and 2000.

Detectives said the abuse in this case is reported to have occurred at that business.

Albany police are continuing to follow up on leads and believe there could be more victims.
