86-year-old La Pine man suspected in murder of wife

LA PINE, OR (KPTV) -

Deschutes County deputies arrested a La Pine man on a murder charge after investigators say his wife was found shot on the couple's back porch.

Deputies responded to a home on Old Mill Road in La Pine shortly after 8 a.m. Monday, after the death was reported to 911 dispatchers.

Investigators say 83-year-old Betty Loeffler was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim's husband, 86-year-old Lawrence Loeffler, was taken into custody and booked into the Deschutes County Jail.

Sheriff's Office detectives believe the incident was a domestic dispute. An investigation is ongoing.
