A false report of a weapon at an elementary school led Newberg-Dundee police to search Antonia Crater Elementary School room by room Tuesday.
Police said a student dialed 911 and said another student had a rifle while inside the school, which has an enrollment of 400 children.
Officers and detectives responded while three schools went into lockout mode. Chehalem Valley Middle, which shares a campus with Antonia Crater Elementary, was one of those schools in lockout, which means all school doors were locked and classes continued as normal.
That lockout was lifted by about 11 a.m. after officers searched the school buildings.
Police soon learned the identity of the caller, and that student admitted to police that it was a false report.
There will be an increased presence of uniform police in the area of all Newberg Schools as a result of the threat.
The age of the student who made the false report has not been released.
