PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Police have identified the 29-year-old woman hit and killed in a crosswalk on Northeast Glisan Street on Tuesday night.
Investigators said Heather Fitzsimmons of Portland was crossing the street at 78th Avenue at 6 p.m. when she was hit by a 1985 Chevy Blazer.
The SUV was driven by Samantha Mansholt, 24, of Tualatin.
Officers said the driver failed to stop for the pedestrian in the crosswalk and Fitzsimmons was killed instantly.
Mansholt remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said she showed no signs of impairment, but the investigation into how fast she was driving is ongoing.
No citations or arrests have been made in the case.
Glisan was closed for several hours between 74th and 80th avenues while the Major Crash Team was at the scene.
