Burn risk leads to recall of Columbia Sportswear jackets

Posted: Updated:

Seven styles of Columbia Sportswear jackets are being recalled by the Portland-based outdoors company.

The recalled jackets were sold worldwide by major retailers, sporting and outdoor stores and websites between May 2012 and January 2013.

A recall notice on the company website said the heated jackets "may contain a heated inner wrist cuff component with a manufacturing flaw that may cause an electrical short to occur, giving rise to a potential burn risk."

Customers who believe their jacket is subject to the recall, or if they're unsure, should "immediately discontinue using the jacket and disconnect both batteries from the electrical connections inside the battery pouches," the company said.

The following jackets are part of the recall:

  • Big Game Interchange (HM7198) Men's
  • Circuit Breaker II Jacket (SM7051) Men's
  • Electro AMP Jacket (SM7061) Men's
  • Electro Interchange Jacket (SM7886) Men's
  • Electro AMP Jacket (SL7021) Women's
  • Electro Interchange Jacket (SL7885) Women's
  • Circuit Breaker II Jacket (SL7022) Women's

A toll-free recall hotline has been set up at 1-866-201-9073.
