Police ask for information on teenager injured in bridge fall

Posted: Updated:

A teenager was taken to the hospital after falling from a bridge, but police need the public's help to figure this incident out.

A McMinnville police officer found 17-year-old Zachary Hollenback dangling his legs into traffic on the 3 Mile Bridge. After speaking with the teenager, the officer returned to his cruiser, but it was then that Hollenbeck turned towards the bridge's edge.

What happened next is unclear. Police say Hollenbeck either jumped or fell off the bridge. In either case, he landed on the ground 40 to 50 feet below. An ambulance was brought on scene and the decision was made to call Life Flight. The teen was taken by helicopter to Emanuel Hospital in Portland, but his injuries are described as not being life-threatening.

Anyone with information that could shed light on the nature of this incident is urged to contact Officer Ryan Fricke at 503-434-7307 or ryan.fricke@ci.mcminnville.or.us.
