Oregon City police officers arrested a Beaverton man Thursday night after he tried to rob a local business at knife point, detectives said.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. at Funnelbox Production Studios on Main Street.

An employee who was working late with one other person spotted the suspect, later identified as Nigel Allen, in their office building, police said.

The employee knew Allen did not work there and told officers the suspect had a bag over his shoulder that belonged to the business, FOX 12 learned.

The employee confronted the suspect, who pulled out a knife, officers said.

The employee then pulled out his cell phone to call police, but the suspect ordered him not to do it.

As Allen started walking away, the employee ran upstairs and called 911, police said.

Responding officers searched the area with a police dog and found the suspect hiding in the basement of the business.

Allen faces charges including robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and felon in possession of a restricted weapon.
