PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Tips from the public helped Portland police return G-Diddy the Pomeranian to his family Friday.

Last weekend, a woman reported her ex-boyfriend broke into her home, stole several items and then took off with her Pomeranian dog.

Police said it happened Jan. 26 near Southwest 17th Avenue and Taylors Ferry Road. Investigators said the suspect, Jeray Jessie, had earlier arrived at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with a gunshot wound.

It was not considered life-threatening.

Police said Jessie is a known gang member and was not cooperative with detectives investigating the shooting. He was arrested Thursday on charges of burglary and theft.

The stolen dog, named G-Diddy, was finally located Friday after several tips came in to investigators at the Portland and Beaverton police departments.

Officers met with a person who had G-Diddy and then took the dog back to his family. That person wanted to remain anonymous, police said.
