SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

The body of a missing woman was found Saturday morning at Minto-Brown Island Park in Salem.

Salem police say Sharon Mangan, 59, was reported missing on Thursday evening, but had last been seen alone on Tuesday at the park with her kayak.

Mangan's car was found at the parking lot of the park.

On Friday morning police said Mangan's kayak was located full of water, adrift in the slough.

According to officials, the boat was consistent with having capsized, but there was no sign of Mangan.

Crews removed the kayak and began a search for Mangan, but they were unable to locate her.

Search and rescue crews returned on Saturday morning with the help of a cadaver dog and were able to locate Mangan's body.

Police said Mangan was wearing a life vest at the time of the accident.

Officials said Mangan had only taken up kayaking in the past six months and had never taken any formal instruction.

Police don't believe there is anything suspicious about Mangan's death and are simply calling it a tragic accident.
