PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Multnomah County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of an inmate.
Deputies found David Chilton dead in his cell Saturday night when they tried to wake him for dinner.
Deputies are not sure of the cause of death.
"Initial indications in the investigation are there are no obvious signs of foul
play or self-harm," deputies said.
An autopsy was conducted Sunday morning but the cause of death is pending further tests.
Chilton was arrested back in June following a crime spree that ended with a police standoff at a Fred Meyer in North Portland.
Chilton was also accused of pulling a gun on a PSU safety officer, robbing a Northeast Portland bank and carjacking a bank customer.
