PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Portland police officers booked a man into jail on assault charges Saturday morning after a drinking session near the freeway turned violent.
Officers arrested 55-year-old Michael Oswald on three counts of second-degree assault around 10:15 a.m. Saturday.
Oswald and three other men were sitting and drinking near Interstate 5 at Northeast Second Avenue and Clackamas Street. An argument broke out, and Oswald started beating the other men with a pipe.
Officers found Oswald a couple blocks away, trying to scale a fence near the Oregon State Hospital.
Police arrested Oswald and took him to jail.
