It's a case that hasn't been cracked for more than two years and Vancouver police hope a few photos will finally finish it off.

Officers say it starts with a camera that went to Europe and back. At some point the camera was stolen. Investigators say they know that because it ended up inside a car with other stolen items in Vancouver.

Officers also arrested a theft suspect who was certainly not one of the two couples shown in the digital images stored on the camera vacationing in Europe.

The case dates back to Oct. 12, 2010. Officers were called out to reports of a suspicious vehicle that night, resulting in the arrest of the driver.

Inside, police found numerous items determined to be stolen, including the camera.

It contained photos dated from June 2010 of a group of people who appeared to be vacationing in Europe, including a shot of various French breads, along with a happy couple posing in a scenic walkway.

Vancouver police have held the camera as evidence since its discovery and have not yet been contacted by anyone who reported the camera as stolen.

If you recognize the photos released by Vancouver police or believe the camera belongs to you, call the evidence department at 360-487-7404 and reference case number V10-1854.
