Arson investigation at Gresham transient camp

Posted: Updated:
GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

Gresham police are investigating a potential arson at a transient camp between the Springwater Trail and Johnson Creek.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday to reports of loud pops or explosions coming from the camp.

Firefighters said three different tent structures were on fire when they arrived. The explosions were the result of camp stove propane canisters igniting in the fires.

Investigators said the fires were intentionally set and they consider it an arson investigation.

The occupants of the three tents were not there when the fires were set and nobody was hurt.

There is no motive or suspect information available at this time.
