
The Portland Timbers announced Tuesday that forward Brent Richards underwent a successful arthroscopic surgery of his left knee to repair a torn ACL and a lateral meniscus tear.
Richards is expected to sit out for about six months. He was injured during training on Jan. 26 in Portland.
Also Tuesday, the Timbers defeated the Seattle Sounders in a preseason match in Arizona. The final score was 1-0.
