VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -
The teenage son of a Vancouver couple accused of starving, beating and imprisoning their adopted children gave dramatic testimony in court Tuesday.
Jeff and Sandra Weller were arrested in the fall of 2011.
On the stand, the couple's 13-year-old son said he tried to slip the twins extra food, but when they were caught, the twins got beaten with a wooden board.
When asked why he was helping them get food, the teen said, "Because they were not getting fed, and when they were getting fed, it was like nasty stuff like spinach and stuff in a can."
He also said, " I've seen them get hit with a board multiple times ... They had to take their pants and underwear off while they got hit with it."
Prosecutors say the couple only fed their adopted twins once a day and kept them locked in a filthy room. The trial is set to continue Wednesday.
