Skiers, snowboarders expected to flock to Mt. Hood this weekend

MOUNT HOOD, OR (KPTV) -

Fresh snow combined with clear skies will likely lead to a very busy weekend on Mount Hood.

Mount Hood Meadows Ski Resort reported a snow depth of 98 inches after getting 7 inches of new snow in the last two days.

The Oregon Department of Transportation is asking drivers to use extra caution and patience around the ski areas this weekend.

That includes the highways and the parking lots.

The parking lots fill up quickly on busy weekends and parking is prohibited on the highways. Illegally parked vehicles risk getting towed.

The weekend of Feb. 2 saw similarly busy roads on Mount Hood, with traffic jams lasting up to two hours in some areas.
