A man accused of robbing a Vancouver tanning salon Thursday evening was caught on surveillance video.
Detectives are still investigating if the same man robbed two other tanning salons just hours apart.
Police said a man displayed a handgun at Tan Republic in the 11400 block of Fourth Plain Boulevard about 6 p.m. Thursday. The suspect took off when the clerk told him police were on their way.
"It makes you really angry," said Valerie Cross, who owns Tropical Image Tanning located at 10501 NE Hwy. 99.
Her business was robbed about 6:30 p.m. Thursday by a man with a similar description.
"He came up and pretty much imitated like he had a gun and asked her to open the cash register," said Cross.
Cross said the man got away with less than $100 and she wonders why he picked her tanning salon.
"We're a tanning salon," said Cross. "We don't carry a lot of cash. People use their debit and credit cards. And luckily for that we didn't lose out on a lot."
FOX 12 obtained surveillance video from the Corner Mart next door which shows the suspect walking into the tanning salon, then running out down the sidewalk.
Later Thursday night around 8:45 p.m. police said a man robbed another tanning salon, Sun Up Tanning, in the 2100 block of Southeast 164th Avenue. The suspect took off with cash, but police were not able to track him down.
In all three cases, the description of the suspect is similar. Witness accounts vary on his height and what he was wearing. Cross thinks there may be a connection.
"A lot of those descriptions are so similar that I feel like it has to match," she said.
Detectives haven't confirmed the cases are connected, but they're still investigating.
