A man accused of robbing a Portland pharmacy will be arraigned for his alleged crimes Monday.
Police say 27-year-old Tyler Bart Ljubich robbed Paulson's Pharmacy on NE Sandy and NE 42nd Avenue. Police first received a call around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. The caller says a friend texted her and told her they were being robbed. Inside, workers say the suspect pulled a gun and took Oxycontin, money, and several customers' wallets.
When officers arrived at the business, they say they say Ljubich leaving the building. Officers told him to stop, but that is when they say he took off running. An officer tried to cut him off with his patrol car in the parking lot of nearby grocery store. The suspect was knocked down, at which point a gun fell from his pocket. The suspect continued running before being tackled and held by a customer shopping at the store. Officers say Ljubich continued to struggle and they had to use a taser to detain him.
The gun that fell from the suspect's pocket was later determined to be an Airsoft replica.
The stolen items were recovered and returned.
