PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
More than 2,000 people took the plunge into the frigid waters of the Columbia River.
It was all part of the Oregon Law Enforcement Polar Plunge presented by Fred Meyer benefiting Special Olympics Oregon on Saturday.
Each person who took the plunge raised a minimum of $50 in pledges from friends and family.
The event in Portland is one of five hosted around Oregon between Feb. 1 and Feb. 16. In all, 4,000 Oregonians are expected to take a polar plunge for Special Olympics Oregon this year.
