Detectives believe more victims possible in sex abuse case

WASHINGTON COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Detectives are searching for more victims after they allege a sex abuse suspect bailed out of jail and then attacked another woman.

Yusuf Sheikh-Nur, 28, was arrested Dec. 18, 2012 on two counts of sex abuse, along with multiple counts of harassment and burglary.

He was lodged in the Washington County Jail held on a $115,00 bond, but he bailed out Feb. 1.

"Why was he released, that's the main question now, if he was raping people, why was he released," said neighbor Shannon Reilly.

On the morning of Feb. 11, deputies began receiving reports Sheikh-Nur was approaching women in Beaverton and the Bethany neighborhood asking for kisses. When they refused, he would force himself on them, according to deputies.

Deputies worked to track him down when they were contacted at 9 p.m. that night by a woman reporting she had been held against her will and raped by Sheikh-Nur. The abuse allegedly occurred in his Bethany apartment.

"It's scary I live right over here, and would have no idea that would be happening so close to where I live and sleep, its scary," said Reilly.

Deputies located Sheikh-Nur at a home in Aloha at 11 p.m. Feb. 11 and arrested him.

He is now facing additional charges of kidnapping, rape and numerous other sex crimes. He is being held behind bars on more than $3 million bail.

Washington County sex crimes detectives believe there may be additional victims of Sheikh-Nur. Because he traveled by mass transit, investigators said abuse could have occurred anywhere in the metro area.

If you have any information related to this suspect, call the Washington County Sheriff's Office at 503-846-2500.
