Linn County police have arrested two people living with a 2-month-old child and growing pot at the same time. The infant's parents were not charged.
Linn County police and Department of Human Services representatives knocked on the door of a house in Harrisburg to investigate reports of child abuse. From where they stood, police said the smell of marijuana wafted from the home. Those inside allowed police to search the home, where they found an illegal marijuana grow. Steve Austin, 39, and Ethan Haskall, 37, were arrested on scene.
Police report finding 10 marijuana plants growing, two harvested plants, processed pot, seeds, grow lights and various drug paraphernalia.
But they also found the young boy. His parents, both 19, were on hand, but not arrested or charged with any crime. However, the infant was removed from the home and placed in the care of relatives.
Austin and Haskall were levied with marijuana possession and manufacture charges, but released from jail.
