Art contest for Fort Vancouver Fourth of July fireworks show

Posted: Updated:
VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

For 50 years, Fort Vancouver has hosted a Fireworks show on the Fourth of July.

This year, organizers are looking for artists to capture the spirit of the event for a commemorative poster and T-shirt.

The winning designs will be printed and sold at the 2013 Independence Day at Fort Vancouver event.

The design must include the number 50 in some form, the year 2013 and the official title of the event: "Independence Day at Fort Vancouver presented by Bank of America."

Proceeds from the winning design on posters and shirts will benefit the show, which is produced by the Fort Vancouver National Trust, a non-profit organization.

The contest is open to all artists, professional and amateur. Submissions will be broken up into two categories, adults 13 years or old and children ages 12 and younger.

Winners will receive prizes, as well as recognition from the main stage at the Fourth of July Event.

Entries must be submitted digitally and will be accepted through Feb. 28. The public will vote on the winners between March 4-11 via the trust's Facebook page.

Winners will be announced March 12.
