A woman who was about to become a carjacking victim instead grabbed a knife and wrestled the suspect to the ground.
Washington County deputies said it happened at around 11 p.m. Thursday at Club Underground, 18641 S.W. Tualatin Valley Highway in Aloha.
Deputies arrived and found what they called a chaotic scene in the parking lot. People were holding a man down on the ground.
Deputies said Daniel Broome, 30, of Hillsboro approached a parked 1996 Nissan 200SX with four people inside. Witnesses said he tapped a handgun on the driver's window demanding the keys and ordered everyone to get out.
The 33-year-old driver told investigators she was concerned Broome was going to shoot her and her friends so she grabbed a knife.
Deputies said as she exited the car, she grabbed Broome and wrestled him to the ground. Others assisted in holding Broome down and taking his gun.
No one was seriously injured.
Broome suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital prior to being taken to jail.
He is charged with robbery and is behind bars on $250,000 bail. Deputies said more charges will be added in this case.
