Family and friends of Vanessa Ogden announced on Facebook Monday that her memorial will be held Saturday at the Grace Chapel on Boekman Road in Wilsonville. The announcement says all are welcome and that they encourage everybody to wear TOMS as it was one of her favorite things to wear. Business casual attire is also encouraged.
Ogden was taken off her ventilator and passed away at 2:26 p.m. last Friday.
She was working as a manager at the Justice clothing store in the mall on Dec. 11 when Jacob Roberts opened fire, killing two people and wounding a teenage girl before turning the gun on himself.
Her husband, Doug Ogden, said she was not physically hurt in the shooting. In fact, she is credited with guiding her employees and customers to the back room of the store to keep everyone safe.
She was seven months pregnant at the time.
Doug Ogden said it was a week later when a drastic change began to take hold of his wife. She stopped eating, drinking and talking. Doctors diagnosed her with PTSD and sent her home.
Soon, she suffered upward of 70 small strokes to her brain.
She gave birth while in an induced coma to their daughter Georgia, who was a month premature, but healthy.
"Her family, her friends, her husband and her daughters will live on her legacy and she will never ever be forgot," said a post on Friday. "This story is not over as this family needs every bit of prayer and support you can offer."
