Cat Food Bank runs out of food, donations needed

Posted: Updated:
SHERWOOD, OR (KPTV) -

Cat food donations are desperately needed to fill the shelves of the Cat Food Bank, operated by the Cat Adoption Team (CAT), in Sherwood.

For the first time ever, the Cat Food Bank ran out of food to hand out.

All that is left in the pantry is about 100 cans of wet food.

The Cat Food Bank is supported solely through donations.

To have enough for the March 10 distribution day, 2,800 pounds of dry cat food is needed.

At the Feb. 10 distribution day, all the cat food on the shelves was handed out.

That equated to 2,540 pounds of dry and 1,244 cans of wet cat food.

Some clients received less food than they normally would.

The Cat Food Bank provides free cat food to cat owners struggling financially and receiving some sort of assistance,

Keeping cats with their owners and the families who love them is the goal behind the Cat Food Bank's free food distributions.

The Cat Food Bank also provides cat food for three local senior centers and their Meals on Wheels programs.

Clients receive a monthly supply of cat food (7.5 pounds of dry cat food per cat – up to four cats) and several cans of wet food per month.

If you would like to help out you can take any new, unopened bags of dry cat food before March 10 to CAT's Sherwood shelter at 14175 SW Galbreath Dr. or one of the drop off locations listed at catadoptionteam.org.
