PHOENIX (CBS5) -
After eight days of testifying in her own defense, accused murderer Jodi Arias faced intense questioning from the prosecution Thursday.
Arias, 32, is on trial for first-degree murder in the death of her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander in June 2008. Alexander was stabbed 27 times, had his throat slit and was shot in the head.
Prosecutor Juan Martinez began questioning Arias about 10:40 a.m. in Maricopa County Superior Court. Court is closed on Fridays.
Arias exhibited the gamut of emotions on her final day of testimony Wednesday, crying at times when recalling the day Alexander died in his Mesa home, and appearing calm and composed at other times.
Over the eight days of testimony, Arias often recalled the minutest details about the events leading up that day in June, but when it came to Alexander's death, she couldn't recall much, saying there was a "huge gap" in her memory about how her ex-lover died.
She said she accidentally shot Alexander after he chased her around his apartment "like a linebacker" and that the gun she grabbed from his closet, discharged during their tussle, but that she wasn't sure he was shot.
She said she had no memory of stabbing him, only dropping a bloody knife to the tiles on the floor and screaming at the sight.
She said her next clear memory was driving away and throwing the gun in the desert.
The jury also learned that Arias went to Alexander's memorial service in Mesa.
Once she was arrested, she told police she wasn't at Alexander's house the night he was killed. She later told detectives about a man and woman breaking into Alexander's house.
On multiple occasions during Wednesday's testimony Arias referenced her plans to commit suicide. Arias said she wanted to die before Alexander's birthday on July 28.
On Tuesday, Arias testified it was hard to talk about the day Alexander died because of how it ended.
Arias also began to cry as the defense asked her about explicit photos of her. Arias called herself a "stupid idiot" for posing naked for the photos.
