Three Cowlitz County men are behind bars, accused of stealing a semi-truck filled with roofing shingles.
Cowlitz County Deputies received a call around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday that someone had stolen a red, white and blue Mack truck from a lot in Portland. The caller said the truck was equipped with a GPS tracking device. Dispatch was able to trace the signal and found the truck traveling East on SR 504.
Washington State Police were able to locate the truck at a home on Barba Road in Castle Rock. The responding troopers say they saw two of the suspects unloading the truck when they arrived. Both men, identified as Matthew Chapman and Gene Dodds, were arrested on the scene.
Clackamas County Deputies were called to the scene to help in the search for a third suspect who allegedly had run into a patch of brush behind a nearby barn. Deputies and a K-9 unit were able to locate the suspect, Matthew Caldwell, hiding in the brush.
All three men are being held without bail on a variety of theft and drug charges. The truck and shingles were returned to their rightful owner.
