A woman who raised Clackamas Town Center mall gunman Jacob Roberts has died of natural causes.
Tami Roberts passed away Thursday at a hospital from an existing medical health problem. She was initially found by her caretaker, and attempts to revive her were unsuccessful, a family member told FOX 12.
"She will be dearly missed by her many friends and family," a family statement said. "This is a difficult time for us because of the circumstances and passing of her son, Jacob, in December. Finally, we request privacy to grieve in peace."
A medical examiner confirmed the death, with a preliminary cause listed as natural causes.
On Dec. 11, Jacob Roberts used a stolen AR-15 rifle to kill two people and injure a 15-year-old girl at the Clackamas Town Center mall food court.
Investigators said he rushed into the food court and opened fire around 3:30 p.m. that day. His rifle jammed at one point, but he was able to get it working again.
Tami Roberts had raised Jacob since he was 2 years old after her sister, Jacob's birth mother, died. Back in December, she told FOX 12 that she had not spoken to Jacob Roberts in four years. She reached out to him with calls and emails, but he even blocked her on Facebook.
