Police arrested a Portland woman and her boyfriend Friday morning after finding a meth lab in their home, officers said.
Police responded to the house in the 7800 block of SE Aspen Summit Drive at 10:51 a.m. to check on the welfare of a 7-month-old girl whose mother reportedly had relapsed on methamphetamine.
When officers arrived, the woman who answered the door attempted to prevent police from coming inside as her boyfriend ran toward the bathroom, detectives told FOX 12.
When officers got inside they took both adults into custody and found a "shoe box-sized meth lab" in the bathroom, police said.
The baby girl was found safe inside the home.
DHS caseworkers took her to a Portland hospital as a precaution.
She appeared to be in good health, police said.
Officers have evacuated three neighboring apartments as a precaution, but said there does not appear to be any imminent danger to the neighborhood.
Investigators from the Drugs and Vice Division are responding to seize the meth lab evidence.
Police have yet to release the names of the two suspects.
