Portland gas prices up 40 cents in one month

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The average price is $3.66 for a gallon of regular unleaded in Portland this morning.

According to gasbuddy.com, the average jumped about 6 cents a gallon in the past week.

Each day gasbuddy.com surveys 387 gas outlets in Portland to determine the average price.

The national average rose about three cents in the last week to $3.72 for a gallon of regular unleaded.

Here's some good news: in Portland, we're still about 22 cents lower than the same day last year. But on the flip side, the average price is almost 40 cents higher than a month ago.

Analysts believe the national average has peaked, but they think the prices will linger at this level for some time.
