AMR paramedics help deliver 4 babies in 1 weekend

American Medical Response crews in the metro area made history this weekend after helping deliver an unprecedented four babies in just two days.

AMR says they delivered two single babies and helped with a set of twins - something that has never happened before in such a short amount of time.

Just to put things into perspective, AMR says they typically deliver about a dozen babies in a year.

Monday afternoon, AMR recognized the paramedic crews and awarded them with stork pins.

No one seems to know exactly why there was a sudden uptick of deliveries this weekend, but crews say they were happy and excited to be a part of the tiny arrivals.

They describe it as an unusual turn of events when the crews helped deliver not one, not two, but four babies this past weekend in Multnomah County.

Stuart Chung has been an AMR paramedic for nearly a decade and this was his first delivery in the field.

The baby was a twin. The second was delivered after mom arrived at Legacy Mount Hood Medical center on Saturday.

"Lady was walking down the street in labor and she called 911, and we pulled up there and she got on the rig and the babies just came out," Chung said.

All three mommies and babies are said to be doing just fine.

All four babies delivered are girls.
