Investigators said an 11-year-old boy admitted starting a fire in a Linwood Elementary School bathroom.

Firefighters were called out just before 4 p.m. Monday to the school at 11909 Linwood Ave. in  Milwaukie. Crews arrived to find the fire put out by the school's sprinkler system.

The fire damage was limited to the bathroom and the water flow from the sprinkler was quickly stopped.

There were some students still at the school at the time of the fire for after-school programs. They all made it safely out of the building and no injuries were reported.

Clackamas fire investigators determined the fire was intentionally set.

Detectives identified the 11-year-old suspect, who is a student at the school and was participating in an after-school program at the time.

Milwaukie police said the boy admitted setting a piece of toilet paper on fire, before lighting the paper towel dispenser using a lighter.

Investigators said the fire caused $5,000 to $10,000 in damage.
