Police: Paintball shooter in car takes aim at cyclist

Posted: Updated:

A car pulled up alongside a cyclist in north Portland and opened fire with a paintball gun.

Police said it happened at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday on North Vancouver Avenue near Skidmore Street.

The victim, Ricardo Medina, 36, of Vancouver, told officers he was heading south when the car pulled up next to him and the passenger fired several shots from a paintball gun.

None of the shots hit Medina. The car then turned off into a neighborhood.

Medina told police the car came back around the block, so he got off his bike to confront the people in the car. Medina said the driver began to drive forward, slowly pushing the victim backward.

The driver then put the car into reverse, backed up to Skidmore Street and sped away heading west.

The car is described as a light-colored newer four-door Honda Civic. The suspects are described as possibly white males in their teens or early 20s.
