Fred Meyer, QFC bread being recalled

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Bread products delivered to local Fred Meyer and QFC stores are part of a recall.

Bakers discovered the potential for pieces of plastic to have made it into the bread. Fred Meyer representatives said no customers have reported experiencing this yet and it's not clear how it happened.

Five different kinds of bread are on the recall list. They were delivered to Fred Meyer stores in Idaho, Oregon and Washington and to QFC stores in Oregon and Washington on Feb. 22, Feb. 24 and Feb. 25.

All QFC and Fred Meyer loyalty card holders who purchased the product will receive a phone message alerting them to the recall.

Anyone who has the recalled bread can bring it to the store for a refund or exchange.

The recalled products are:

-Kroger Value Wheat Bread, 22.5 ounce, UPC 11110 02199.

-QFC Tender Twist Wheat Bread, 20 ounce, UPC 11110 20231.

-Fred Meyer Tender Twist Honey Cracked Wheat Bread, 24 ounce, UPC 11110 23004.

-Fred Meyer Tender Twist 100 percent Whole Wheat Bread, 24 ounce, UPC 11110 23005.

-Fred Meyer Tender Twist Wheat Bread, 22.5 ounce, UPC 11110 23006.

All the recalled products have "sell by" dates of March 8.
