Babysitter spots burglar stealing from SE Portland home

Posted: Updated:

A woman babysitting in southeast Portland watched from a neighbor's house as a burglar broke into her home.

It happened at 2:30 p.m. Monday on the 13200 block of Southeast 63rd Avenue.

Police said Juliann Peterson, 19, watched as a man walked up to the front door and entered the home. She knew the person didn't belong there because it was her house.

Peterson saw the suspect leave the home, so she went outside and yelled at him. Police said the suspect turned to look at her before running away southbound with items he had stolen from the home.

Peterson called 911 to report the crime.

The woman met with a forensic artist the following day to create a composite sketch of the suspect. He is described as a Hispanic man in his mid 30s, standing 5'7" to 5'8" tall with a stocky build.

He was further described as having a round fat face with wrinkles in the cheeks and neck area.

He was wearing a black beanie, black coat, black pants, black gloves and carrying a black backpack.

If you know anything about this case, contact the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office at 503-723-4949.
