PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A man is accused of making a drug deal at Portland International Airport with three children in his car.
An off-duty Port of Portland police officer working in plain clothes overheard a conversation regarding a potential drug deal at the airport Saturday.
Port officers conducted surveillance of the suspect, Darrin Dow. At 2 p.m. Saturday, officers said they watched him purchase $100 worth of cocaine in the upper roadway of the departure level.
Officers arrested Dow, 46, of Redmond, on the charge of possession of a controlled substance. Police said they recovered a gram of cocaine in his possession.
Investigators said he bought it from Kalvin Ransom, 30, of Portland, who drove to PDX in a car occupied by three children, ages 5, 8, and 10 years old.
Two were Ransom's kids, while the other was a child of an ex-wife, according to police.
Around the same time officers arrested Dow, police conducted a traffic stop of the car driven by Ransom.
He was arrested on charges of delivery and possession of cocaine and three counts of child neglect.
Police said they recovered the $100 Dow used to purchase the cocaine.
The children were taken into temporary protective custody by Port of Portland police, before they were released to their mother.
