PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Two players are being waived by the Timbers just days before the team faces off with New York in their first game of the season.
The Timbers have waived midfielder Franck Songo'o and defender Chris Taylor.
Taylor was benched most of last season after a hip surgery in July.
Songo'o appeared in 27 games last year.
The Timbers general manager says salary cap restrictions played a role in the decision.
