Oregon woman guilty of torching city hall

MILL CITY, OR (KPTV) -

A jury found a Mill City woman guilty of setting fire to the town's city hall.

The jury returned with a guilty verdict on three counts of first-degree arson Friday for Joy Cronin.

Cronin, a former finance clerk, started the fire that destroyed the city hall two years ago. She suffered injuries in the blaze and was taken to a Portland hospital.

Because of the complexity of the case, deputies said it took months to make an arrest.

Her sentencing is set for March 29. Cronin is out on bail.

Mill City built a new city hall just a few blocks away from where the old one burned down.
