PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A sex offender who was wanted by Portland police has been located in Arizona.

Lawrence Hendon, 50, had a felony parole violation warrant issued by the Oregon State Parole Board on an original charge of first-degree sex abuse.

He was released from prison Jan. 4, 2013, but failed to check in with his parole officer and has not registered as a sex offender.

On Monday, police released a photo of the suspect from July 2012, and Crime Stoppers offered a reward of up to $1,000 for finding him.

Within hours, police received word that Hendon was located by police in Apache Junction, AZ, but Hendon's warrant is "non-extraditable" from Arizona, police said.
