A Vancouver man is accused of driving drunk and crashing an SUV with his three children inside.

It happened early Tuesday morning on a stretch of Highway 6, west of Banks.

According to Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers, Matthew Evans, 25, was headed eastbound when his 2002 Ford Explorer went off the road, slammed into a guardrail and rolled over.

It came to rest in a ditch on the south side of the highway.

Evans' 2-year-old daughter was thrown from the SUV and taken by ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland with non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.

His 5-year-old daughter and 6-month old son suffered minor injuries.

Relatives took them to a hospital.

Evans received minor injuries and refused medical attention, investigators said.

He was arrested on charges of DUII, reckless driving, three counts of recklessly endangering another person, and three counts of fourth degree assault.

Evans was taken to the Washington County Jail.
