The body of a man jet skiing in the ocean near Lincoln City was discovered early Tuesday morning.
The girlfriend of Daniel Ahlers, 24, contacted authorities at 9:30 p.m. Monday to report he was overdue from jet skiing.
Deputies then located his vehicle and jet ski trailer in the parking lot at Knight Park near the mouth of the Salmon River north of Lincoln City.
The U.S. Coast Guard launched a boat and helicopter to search the water. At 1 a.m., they spotted an abandoned jet ski. The man's body was then found floating in the water about a mile off Depoe Bay.
Coast Guard personnel retrieved Ahlers' body around 7:30 a.m. and brought it to the Depoe Bay Station.
Investigators then identified the body as the missing jet skier. An autopsy is tentatively pending to help determine the cause of death.
