TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -
The Portland Timbers announced Tuesday that midfielder Sal Zizzo underwent successful surgery to repair a medial meniscus tear in his left knee.
The procedure was performed by the team's Director of Medicine Dr. Richard Edelson at a facility in Tigard.
Zizzo sustained the injury Monday during training, and is expected to be out four weeks.
Zizzo is in his third season with the Timbers, and played in the club's season-opening draw against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday.
