PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Detectives are asking for any witnesses to come forward in the case of a baby kidnapped in southeast Portland earlier this week.
Officers said 17-year-old Kabriana Harper abducted the child from an apartment on 148th Avenue early Tuesday.
A woman living several blocks away discovered the baby in the front yard of her home five hours later.
"Found a baby on my lawn, that's new," the woman wrote on Twitter.
In the hours that followed, police interviewed Harper extensively and eventually arrested her on a charge of second-degree kidnapping.
Harper's great uncle said the arrest was "ludicrous."
"That girl ain't never ever in her life been in trouble. The most bubbliest girl in the world. You all got her locked up," he told FOX 12 earlier this week.
Now police want to hear from anyone who may have been a witness, or who may have additional case information. Those who do can call 503-823-0446 or email mike.weinstein@portlandoregon.gov.
