Oregon State Police said a server problem affecting web access and phone transactions for the Firearms Instant Check System (FICS) has caused delays, but not an all-out stoppage, for background checks for people trying to buy guns.
OSP said the server problem discovered Friday has caused delays, but progress is being made for pending web transactions, and telephone transactions are being processed in the order they are received.
FICS staffers are said to be working hard to complete outstanding requests as soon as possible and will be on duty until 10 p.m. IT staff will continue to work through the night to resolve the problem.
