Search for possible missing hiker suspended

SKAMANIA COUNTY, WA (KPTV) -

The search for a possible missing hiker in the Table Mountain area was suspended Monday night.

Skamania County Search and Rescue teams have been looking for a man since Saturday night after a hiker reported hearing someone yell for help.

Rescue crews spent all day Sunday and Monday searching the area but had no luck locating anyone.

"We have not received any credible physical evidence from the field that would indicate that we have anyone out there in the area at this time," said Undersheriff Dave Cox. "We have placed a great deal of resources into a very hazardous area and have come up with absolutely nothing."

Investigators said they have no reports of any overdue hikers, have not found any unattended vehicles and have not had an employer call to report an employee who did not show up for work.

A check of the Bonneville Hot Springs Resort reported no unaccounted for guests on Monday, according to deputies.

Search efforts Monday involved approximately 30 searchers that combed the 2-square-mile search area south of Table Mountain in southern Skamania County.

"If we have credible information in the future that would lead us to believe otherwise, we will certainly take that into consideration for a possible search at a later date," Cox said.
