Tempe police said a missing 16-year-old girl last seen by her family Wednesday afternoon has been found safe.
Melissa Smirke told her mother she was going to the mall with her 18-year-old boyfriend, Tyler Haller, officers said.
The girl had arranged for her mother to pick her up at 9 p.m., but plans were later changed. Smirke has failed to return home.
Her mother reported her as a runaway on Thursday.
Smirke was located in Mesa by Tempe police detectives.
