Fugitive ex-teacher arrested in Mexico

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Former Beaverton teacher turned fugitive Logan Storm has been arrested in Mexico, police confirmed Tuesday.

Logan Storm, who was convicted of possessing child porn, hadn't been heard from since he removed his ankle monitoring device and dumped it at a park in Troutdale on Jan. 29.

A Volkswagen Jetta linked to him was found weeks later in Los Angeles. The license plates had been removed.

Now, local law enforcement has confirmed Storm has been arrested in Mexico. Further details haven't been released by the U.S. Marshal's Office.

Storm resigned from teaching at Stoller Middle School in 2010. In an interview with Fox 12 in 2011, Storm maintained his innocence on the child pornography charges.

He was convicted of possessing child porn in January, but a judge decided to release him pending his sentencing hearing in April. The judge made that decision despite the government's argument that Storm is a flight risk; they pointed out he had already fled the country once before.

In addition to the child porn conviction, new charges of sex abuse have surfaced in the Portland area.

First-degree sex abuse charges involving two underage girls were re-filed against Logan Storm in Multnomah County on Feb. 20.

Deputy District Attorney Amity Girt said the alleged abuse occurred at an unnamed public swimming pool in 2007. She did not reveal why the charges were dropped after being first filed in 2011.
