Portland police make plea: 'No more Harlem Shake videos'

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

No matter how bad you are at it, dancing is not a crime.

However, it seems local police might like to throw certain alleged uncoordinated offenders behind bars.

The Portland Police Bureau released "surveillance video"of a "suspect" who was "getting down" to the Harlem Shake on Wednesday.

His smooth moves landed him in the back of a squad car.

In case you've missed the most recent viral dance craze - along the lines of "Gangnam Style" and even the "Macarena" before it - the Harlem Shake involves people flailing about in random places, often with ridiculous costumes.

The NBA champion Miami Heat have done it. So have passengers onboard an airplane, which didn't make the Federal Aviation Administration too happy.

A group of Australian miners was even fired for their underground, literally, Harlem Shake performance.

And now, the Portland Police Bureau wants it all to end.

Their so-called public service announcement wraps up with the message: "No more Shake videos."

"The Portland Police Bureau, arresting your fun since 1870," the spoof video concludes.
