VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -
A 1-year-old child is in the hospital after he fell from the second-story window of his apartment building in Vancouver Sunday afternoon.
The Clark County Sheriff's Office said that the boy was pushing against the window screen of an opened window and the screen gave way, causing the child to fall out.
Officials say the child landed on the soil ground directly below the window at about 3:30 p.m.
The baby was alert and crying when medics arrived.
The boy was taken to Peace Health Hospital, and the extent of his injuries was unknown as of Sunday night.
Deputies are calling this an accident, but a report will be filed with Child Protective Services, which they said is standard protocol.
