America votes Aubrey Cleland into Idol tour

WEST LINN, OR. (KPTV) -

The votes are in. America has spoken. West Linn's own Aubrey Cleland is the winner of the American Idol Sing-off, meaning she lands the last spot on their nationwide tour.

Cleland will now join the top 10 as they tour the country later this year, and her family says they couldn't be more proud.

"I've been walking around choked up for the past three weeks, just trying to keep it together. It's been really great," said Thane Cleland.

Thane Cleland watched his daughter win from their family home in West Linn. He says he stayed home because he had to work this week, and it was difficult not being there to witness the special moment.

"My dog thinks I'm crazy, I'm alone, jumping up and down, running around the house," said Thane Cleland.

Aubrey Cleland will now journey to 42 different U.S. cities over just three months once the live shows wrap up. She will get to sing at least one solo song, and perform in countless group numbers with the top ten all summer long.

"It's off the scale," said Thane Cleland. "And really, with all of the pressure she's been under, it's incredible to see the way she's handled herself. You can see her growing up and becoming a young woman."

"She's so talented, but a lot of the reason she is there is because of the people around her who spent hours and hours voting for her online. We would love to find a way to say thank you to those supporting her. "
